What To Bring On Your Trip

Listed below are a few things that we suggest you bring along on your Florida Keys charter fishing trip.

Thousands of people come to the tropics each year and within hours have severe sunburn. It can ruin your entire vacation and lead to more serious consequences such as skin cancer.  Please take the extra few minutes to apply sunscreen on all parts of exposed skin. The higher the SPF the better- especially out on the water where the sun's rays can be intense.

Sunglasses

The sun's reflection off the ocean can be blinding. Get yourself a good pair of polarized sunglasses and wear them on your trip. The polarized lenses will not only help protect your eyes, but will also cut down on the glare and make the beautiful blues and greens of the water appear much clearer. They will also help you spot fish swimming below the surface.

In the tropics of the Florida Keys it doesn't take long for dehydration to set in. Drink lots of water before stepping on the boat, and bring along enough water to get you through the trip. Most boats will have a cooler with ice that you can put drinks in, or you can bring your own cooler. At least one gallon of water per person is recommended.

Sandwiches/Snacks

A full day of fighting big fish can build up quite an appetite. We suggest packing a few sandwiches to eat on the water when you get hungry. Solid foods can also help settle your stomach if you start to feel seasick.

You never know what you might catch or see while on your Florida Keys fishing charter. Bring along your camera and capture the experience to show your friends back home. Also keep in mind that not all of the fish you catch will be of legal size or species to keep- so your only chance to photograph them will be right then and there on the boat. You'll also want to take pictures standing in front of your catch back at the dock.

Rain Gear/Warm Clothes (Just in case)

Even though we have a year-round average temperature in the high 70s, it can get a little chilly on those windy winter days. If you're fishing during a cold front, or if the forecast calls for scattered showers, we recommend bringing warm clothes and rain gear along just in case you get cold.
